  1. Discussion of all aspects of target shooting allowed by UK law.
  2. Discussion of shooting-related disciplines eg. loading, gun-smithing, range safety and licensing.
  3. Discussion/reporting of safety issues arising from shooting eg. shooting near rights of way, training of new shooters etc.
Except as in 1. above, discussion of the abuse/unsafe use of firearms and their deliberate use to endanger human life or limb is prohibited in this group. This especially applies to the modification and/or reactivation of weapons contrary to UK firearms legislation.

Gun control issues are prohibited from this group. Gun-control issues should be discussed in uk.politics.guns. Any cross-posting between uk.rec.shooting.* and any other group is prohibited except cross-posting of articles of common interest within the uk.rec.shooting hierarchy, which is allowed. Examples of acceptable cross-posting:

Trade adverts (from European Union traders only) for shooting-related supplies, weapons for sale, ranges, competitions, gunsmiths, dogs, trials, shoots etc. are permitted provided the subject line contains the word "ADVERT: ". Situations vacant for shooting-related jobs (eg. gunsmiths, range staff, keepers) are permitted and should contain "JOB: " in the subject line. Private sales are permitted and should contain "FS: " or "FOR SALE: " in the subject line. All the above should be of 25 lines or fewer and posted no more frequently than quarterly.

All binary attachments are prohibited, except for valid digital signatures. The appropriate place for binaries is an ftp or web site; a reference to that site may be posted in this news group.
