(Not Moderated)

uk.rec.audio.vinyl is intended for the discussion of any matter related to audio replay by means of vinyl records and other 'non-digital' disc or cylinder sources. Including related associated equipment, modifications, cover-art, history, and general "set-up" and maintainance.

uk.rec.audio.vinyl is for those interested in vinyl and other non-digital sound formats. Whilst discussion of format differences is welcome, discussions comparing digital formats (with each other or with non-digital formats) are off-topic.

Advertising is only acceptable when it is short, when it is relevant to the primary topic of the newsgroup (ie sound reproduction using vinyl), & when what is advertised is reasonably available to the UK readership of the group.

Postings regarding advertising should be of four lines or fewer, and not posted more than once every 3 months. The subject line should begin "FS: " for items for sale, "FA: " for items offered via Internet auction sites, and "WTB: " for items that are being sought for purchase.

Suppliers of goods and services relevant to sound reproduction using vinyl in the UK may post an invitation to visit their web site or request details.

Binaries & Formatting:

Encoded binaries (e.g. pictures, compressed files, etc.) are forbidden. Such material belongs on a web or FTP site to which a pointer may be posted. Cryptographic signatures (e.g. PGP) may be used where authentication is important and should be as short as possible.

Posts must be readable as plain text. HTML, RTF and similarly formatted messages are prohibited. To see how to make some common newsreaders comply with this, read <http://www.usenet.org.uk/ukpost.html>.

Warning. Anyone posting contrary to this charter may be reported to their "postmaster" and/or Service Provider.
