uk.rec.cars.imports is for the discussion of the purchase of cars
overseas for use in the UK, by private buyers and through import
brokers, and issues arising from the ownership of cars imported into
the UK in this way. Examples of suitable topics include, but are not
limited to: prices and savings for specific cars; discussion of
sources for importing a car; warranty, insurance, resale value,
service costs, and similar issues concerning privately imported costs;
the registration process for a car being imported.
Messages posted to this newsgroup must not be crossposted to more than
ONE other newsgroup.
Advertising is forbidden, with these exceptions:
- Suppliers of vehicles for import, brokerage services, or other
services specifically relevant to the importation of vehicles into the
UK may post, not more than once every calendar month, an invitation of
four lines or fewer, to visit their web site or request details. The
subject line should begin

- Participants in discussions may include references to, and URLs
of, commercial ventures in their signature file as long as it does not
exceed 4 lines in total.
It is regarded as advertising, and therefore forbidden, for a supplier
to reply to each individual request for information on the group with
a quote or proposal; such quotes are more appropriately sent by email
to the individual asking for advice, who is then encouraged then
summarise her or his experience in a single post.
Encoded binaries (e.g. pictures, compressed files, etc.) are
forbidden. Such material belongs on a web or ftp site to which a
pointer may be posted. Cryptographic signatures (e.g. PGP) may be
used where authentication is important and should be as short as
possible.
Posts must be readable as plaintext. HTML, RTF and similarly
