Charter of uk.local.sunderland

(Not Moderated)

uk.local.sunderland is a forum for the discussion and debating of issues and events, affecting the City of Sunderland and surrounding areas. For the purposes of this charter, this shall include all areas within the boundaries of the City of Sunderland (Washington, Houghton-le-Spring, Hetton-le-Hole, Southwick, Grangetown, Seaburn, Fulwell, Hendon and other areas within the boundaries of the city) and also Boldon, Whitburn and Seaham, due to their close proximity and the influence of this proximity on these areas.

This newsgroup will welcome discussion, debate and argument concerning Sunderland identity, history, music, humour, attitudes, language, issues, events and related items that affect the lives of the people of Sunderland. Items submitted by Mackem exiles will be particularly welcome, as will debates on Mackem identity (do Mackems count as Geordies, Durham folk or do they have an identity all of their own).

Binaries & Formatting

Encoded binaries (e.g. pictures, compressed files, etc.) are forbidden. Not even pictures of the Stadium of Light, Penshaw Monument, or, however justified, pictures of southerners who called us Geordies being chucked off Monkwearmouth Bridge, are allowed. Such material belongs on a web page or FTP site to which a pointer may be posted. Cryptographic signatures (e.g. PGP) may be used where authentication is important and should be as short as possible.

Posts must be readable as plain text. HTML, RTF and similarly formatted messages are prohibited. To see how to make some common newsreaders comply with this, read <http://www.usenet.org.uk/ukpost.html>.

Advertising

No advertising of any kind is permitted.

Cross-posting

Messages posted to this newsgroup must not be cross-posted to more than a TOTAL of four uk.local.* newsgroups; these may be geographically adjacent or overlapping, or connected by the subject of the post (e.g. "moving house from Southampton to Sunderland").

Warning

Anyone posting contrary to this charter may be reported to their "postmaster" and/or Service Provider.
