Charter of uk.culture.nostalgia.

(Not Moderated)

uk.culture.nostalgia.1980s is for light-hearted discussion and reminisces about life in the UK during the 1980's. These discussions can generally be about anything that happened during those years which other people reading the group can relate to. Topics could be about TV programmes (kids or otherwise), toys, games, foods (a typical conversation may start along the lines of "remember Delete chocolate bars?"), pop music - basically anything that will be fun to read.

Subjects which will be off-topic will be "serious" things that could annoy people and start flame wars. Politics in the 1980's, for instance, will be off-topic. This is a newsgroup where Grifters and BMX bikes are rated more importantly than the story behind the miner's strike.

Short (20 line) relevant announcements are permitted, blatant off-topic or commercial advertising is not. Subject lines should ideally start with "ANNOUNCEMENT: " so that they can be filtered out by those people who do not want to read these. Top-posting and cross-posting are generally discouraged.

Binaries & Formatting

Encoded binaries (e.g. pictures, compressed files, etc.) are forbidden. Such material belongs on a web or FTP site to which a pointer may be posted. Cryptographic signatures (e.g. PGP) may be used where authentication is important and should be as short as possible.

Posts must be readable as plaintext. HTML, RTF and similarly formatted messages are prohibited. To see how to make your newsreader comply with this, read <http://www.usenet.org.uk/ukpost.html>.
