uk.comp.vintage is for discussion of all older computer and games console systems and associated matters in the UK.

Advertising

Advertising is forbidden, with these exceptions:

Advertising by business, or for the primary purpose of business, is forbidden. Individual posters may advertise items relevant to the group for sale not more than once per month in a post not more than 10 lines long. Any advertising which would take more than that should be placed on a website and the URL posted. Responses to these adverts should be by email to the vendor and not posted in the newsgroup.
Posters may also place wanted adverts, no more than once per month per item with responses also sent via email rather than posted to the group.

All adverts should be clearly marked as such.

Links included as part of a persons normal Usenet Signature appended to on-topic posts are exempt from this although these should be kept to four lines or less.

Binaries & Formatting

Encoded binaries (e.g. pictures, compressed files, etc.) are forbidden. Such material belongs on a web or FTP site to which a pointer may be posted. Cryptographic signatures (e.g. PGP) may be used where authentication is important and should be as short as possible.
